What’s better after relaxing at the beach or hiking up Table Mountain then ending the day with a party night in town? There are plenty of possibilities in Cape Town – do you want to have some drinks in a cool bar? Dance the night away? It’s up to you. Let me show you a couple of my favourite spots for
One night out in Cape Town
The Slug & Lettuce
The Slug & Lettuce is a Franchising store from the UK, therefore it pretty much looks like a British pub on the inside. No wunder that it’s so cozy. They offer a great variety of beer and wine. For dinner you can choose between tapas, burgers or salads. Everything’s pretty cheap as well.
My recommendation: Sweet Potato Fries and the Halloumi & Avocado Burger
Prices: Burger from R80 (4,50 €), Glass of wine from R30 (1,70 €)
64 Kloof Street, Gardens | Opening hours 11:00 – open end | phone: 021 422 5325
The Sergeant Pepper is the perfect spot to start your party tour through town. Located on Long Street it’s in the middle of the party mile and you can watch the party people on the street from the balcony. The have live music quite often and the pizza is delicious.
My recommendation: The Sally Sunshine pizza
Prices: Pizza from R60 (3,50 €)
194Long Street, City Center | Opening hours 12:00 – 02:00 | phone: 021 424 5608
The Piano Bar
A great atmosphere, a panorama balcony, a real piano and professional jazz musicians playing every evening from 8h00 – that’s the Piano Bar. Oh… and they’ve got fabulous cocktails to offer.
My recommendation: No cocktail but their cheesecake!
Prices: Cocktails from R80 (4,50 €)
47 Napier Street, De Waterkant | Opening hours 16:00 – 02:00 | phone: 021 418 1096
Cool, cooler, Aces’n’Spades. The only music on is rock music from all decades, 70s to 90s. The bar looks pretty shabby but there are some nice sitting areas and a big bar. It gets pretty crowded later in the evening but who minds when the music is so good?
62 Hout Street, City Center | Opening hours17:00 – 02:00 | phone: 021 424 1620
The Assembly is a surprise every time you go there: Is there an event? What kind of music is o? Punk? Ska? Hip Hop? Electro? Who knows! The District Six club is definitely one of the hottest spots in town.
Outfit: Come as you are.
61 Harrington Street, District Six | Opening hours 21:00 – 04:00 | phone: 021 424 1620
There are these songs you don’t even dare to sing in the shower. There are these outifts that you never dare wearing. Well, wear them at Deco Dance – the club of guilty pleasures where you are allowed to party to all the songs you only listen to at home under your blanket and with headphones on. By the way: they have a smokers’ dance floor as well and their caramell vodka is worth a try.
Outfit: Make an effort.
210B Main Road, Seapoint | Opening hours 20:30 – 04:00 | phone: 021 433 2912
